Description
The VSM Supermarket icons are used in a location where a predetermined standard inventory is placed to supply to the downstream processes. The supermarket area has a fixed location for every part number enabling easy picking access The open side faces the supplying process. This is because this supermarket “belongs” to the supplying process and is used to schedule that process. Whenever a part is removed from the supermarket, the information about the removed part has to travel back to the beginning of the loop to initiate the replenishment of this particular part type. This information is usually called ‘Kanban’. Use this icon in your VSM if there is a need for optimize the flow, reduction in use of processing resources, such as towing vehicles, as well as physical space for storing parts/components.
