What are the Different Whiteboard Surfaces?

Navigating the near unlimited whiteboard configurations can be a mind field – so let’s make it simple. There are 3 types of whiteboard surface: enamel steel, coated steel and laminate, each with their own qualities and technology to suit your work and environment.

Enamel Steel

Enamel steel whiteboards are the premium board surface – Featuring a less porous surface, enamel whiteboards will last longer and are easier to keep clean than other whiteboards. All of our steel whiteboards are magnetic, so can be used with a wide variety of our accessories.

Coated Steel

Coated steel whiteboards feature an excellent dry erase surface, and are our surface used for our printed whiteboards. A very durable solution offering a 10-year surface guarantee. All of our steel whiteboards are magnetic, so can be used with a wide variety of our accessories.

Laminate

Which surface is right for me?

In order to determine which surface is right for you, first you must consider how often you are using the board and the environment in which the board is being used.

For high usage – everyday – or in a room with high foot traffic or air conditioning, then an enamel steel surface is the best option – offering a dry-erasable and scratch resistant finish along with a 25-year surface guarantee.

If you’re using the board every other day or a couple of times a week in a lighter traffic environment, then a coated steel surface will do the job nicely. While still being magnetic, dry-erasable and offering a 10-year surface guarantee.

If you do not require a magnetic board and board itself will not be used all that often, then a laminate whiteboard may be the choice for you. Laminate boards are non-magnetic and come with a 2-year surface guarantee.
