Safety and Health Expo is Europe’s leading annual exhibition for the occupational safety and health industry and the only health and safety show to have the exclusive support of key industry partners, IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health),RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) and the BSIF (The British Safety Industry Federation).

Taking place from the 14-16 May 2013 at the NEC Birmingham, the show is dedicated to sourcing innovations from across the sector and helping you, the health and safety professional, gain the information you require to ensure the highest standards of health and safety within your workplaces.  In 2012 the show attracted 7,951 pure visitors, a 9.7% increase year on year.

Magiboards Limited – Stand H22

Magiboards has recently done a full installation of 3 meeting rooms for South Central Ambulance in Eastleigh in Hampshire.

The Resilience and Special Operations Division has chosen the MagiRail track system which allows three whiteboards to stack neatly one behind the other. This offers both space flexibility and also means that certain information can be screened from view if necessary.

The boards chosen are the top grade enamel steel which, with its 25 year surface guarantee, offers a life time of dry wipeability and leaves the meeting rooms looking professional for years to come.

The installation was headed up by Mr Kevin Jackman who is a full time employee at Magiboards and who also manages the factory team.

Karen Graham said she was pleased with the installation and that the boards looked really good.

As a UK manufacturer of whiteboards and noticeboards, we are able to make any of our boards to the exact size you need. We have been offering this bespoke cutting down service for many years, filling a gap in the market place created when many of our competitors began purchasing dry wipe boards and pinboards in standard sizes and colours from China.

Now, following feedback from you, we have introduced this system into our web shop.

At the bottom of the standard sizes in the left hand menu bar, you will find a click through for ‘Need a bespoke size?‘ If you click on this, you will go through to a custom sizes configurator. Simply choose if you want a whiteboard or noticeboard, choose your surface : For whiteboards, you can choose from standard non magnetic (2 year surface guarantee), or magnetic coated steel (5 year surface guarantee) or magnetic enamel steel (25 year surface guarantee). For noticeboards, you can choose from bulletin linoleum, cork, hessian, loop nylon, felt or Sundeala. Next, enter the size you require. Simply follow the instructions. Remember that the maximum size board in one piece in 240 x 120cm, so any size below this is possible as long the smallest side does not exceed 120cm and the largest side does not exceed 240cm. Finally you will see images of all the framing options available in that size. Click on the product you would like and you can take your special bespoke sized board through to the basket as normal.

If you need a larger size than 240cm, you can still contact customer services on 01952 292111 and they will calculate a cut and join board for you.

2012 has been a good year:

We are proud of being a family run business and UK whiteboard and noticeboard manufacturer. We have continued to invest in our manufacturing plant with the whole factory getting a new and improved layout and machine investment in a new glue roller to help further speed up the production process. This has resulted in a price reduction on our noticeboards in particular.

In 2012, we launched the new improved web site. This included a side menu bar which allows you to narrow down to a product easily and with each noticeboard  having an appropriate image, including fabric colourways. The feedback from you has been very positive and we have further plans to enhance the website next year…As always, let us know of any improvements which could make your life easier!

A big congratulations to Philippa Hill for her 1st class honours degree at Edinburgh College of Art Textile Design.

Philippa used a special bespoke size corkboard to display her final project.

The cheap whiteboards currently on sale are dry wipe laminate, non magnetic finish. The quality of the whiteboard is perfect but the discounted price reflects the size which is 8mm smaller than our usual white boards.

We are happy to offer quantity price breaks, so if you purchase 1 off, it will be £10.95, but should you wish to have 25, then the unit price reduces to £8.95. This compares with a normal 90 x 60cm non magnetic whiteboard which sells to the trade at £20 (usual carriage conditions apply).

All boards come complete with all fixings and instructions.

Most schools have now completed their open evenings for next year’s intake. Ralph Sadleir School in Hertfordshire used Magiboards’ noticeboards to show the beautiful, creative work that the students have been producing over the last year.

A custom designed printed whiteboard is much more than a dry wipe surface. Every customer who designs their own board ends up with a specific tool to help them better control, plan and run their businesses.

We believe that these printed dry wipe boards need to look good and function perfectly. That is why we use high quality coated steel which is a durable magnetic surface with a 5 year surface guarantee. The printing process is also carefully chosen: Sublimation is a technique which heats the ink to a gas at very high temperatures which allows the ink to enter the surface of the whiteboard….no unsightly gridding tape.  A sharp high quality print at a a very affordable price.

Magiboards is happy to have partnered up with Office Depot to supply their custom made printed white boards to the NHS sector.

Hospitals can now order easily through Office Depot and can be supplied with a magnetic whiteboard with any information printed on it that they need. The dry wipe printed boards are regularly used in theatres, wards and waiting areas.

In 1966 the founder of Magiboards worked for a large steel manufacturer that produced enamel steel for architectural markets. One of the benefits of this material was that it was easy to wipe off any markings and this sparked the idea to make writing boards in this material, to replace the then prevalent slate blackboards in schools.

British consumers are more and more concerned about the provenance of the goods they buy. “Buy British”,
“Local Produce”, are terms heard more and more, particularly in conjunction with food. But have you ever wondered about the “Food Miles” of the office products you buy? Most pens, paper and furniture these days comes from the Far East, China in particular, but there are still some British manufacturers out there!

If you want it slightly narrower, with different fabric, printed to your own design, virtually everything is possible.

If you want to ensure that your product comes from the UK, ask your supplier outright, or if you think they may be spinning the answer to suit their needs, ask if they can customise the product. Often that gives you a clue about its manufacturing base. Magiboards supplies and installs Column Boards

Several teaching and learning rooms in the HumSS building have been refitted during the summer. Magiboards has supplied and installed new column boards  as well as projection facilities and dry wipe whiteboards. Each room also received new blackout blinds, carpets and an improved lighting system. The rooms set a new standard and are a benchmark for the future.
Most of the work was funded from money received from the hire of University rooms through the Commercial Services Office.

Many of our customers are asking us exactly what is required as regards fire rating standards for Notice boards and pin boards.

• Notice boards are NOT subject to building regulation; they are part of the furniture and fittings, not the wall linings, so any reference to Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document B Volume 2 – Buildings Other than Dwellinghouses 2006 edition amended 2007 is irrelevant.
• Notice boards are only fire rated if the supplier can issue a certificate to demonstrate this. Such certificates will exclusively apply to the exact colour notice board tested. However, most people will accept that a board consisting of the same composite materials comply with fire regulations.
• Wood framed notice boards are NEVER fire rated; the backboard and covering may be, but the total board will not be fire rated. An aluminium frame is recommended in place of a wooden one where an FRB board is needed.
